First review on makeup classes since it's the first time i went to one..
Saw the promo on Gmarket (& later on on groupon & deals.com.sg), decided to buy and try it.
The classroom is extreme small, held at middle road, and each class is only limited to Max of 5 person (my class only has 2 çause the other 3 didn't come - quite normal! LOL).
Anyway, hosted by a lady called Christina, and of course as usual, there is always a certain brand of the skincare and cosmetics that they would promote, apparently she's a ladyboss of a local spa too..
Skincare & Cosmetics that was used is the brand Mary Kay. The brand was previously in Singapore, but withdrew (due to unknown reasons, probably losing out and decided to withdraw to have a rebranding..just guessing)
Now it's in SG and sold in a MLM format (Multi-level Marketing) and the lady is a distributor or to be exact, Ms Christina is the independent Sales Director for Mary Kay.
The class started with cleansing your face, routine skincare - double cleansing, masks (She got us to put only half of the face to see the effects and yes, the effects is rather big), moisturizer for face and eye. A short survey of your skin type, the brands of your skincare products etc is done when u step into the class so that she can recommend and let you use the relevant products that she think is best for your skin type. Mine's rather the typical combination skin type (t-zone oily, cheeks dry) with pimples on my forehead and white/black heads all over my nose. Mind you, i do masks regularly, to stop the pimples that pop out usually right before my period comes, but still...= =.... As for white & black heads, 've been trying to get rid of them since when i'm 17 yrs old? started when i started working at a restaurant. The mask she recommended for me is something that you leave on for around 15-20mins and after that, you can do a little scrubbing which means exfoliating. Will give a review if i eventually buy it (cost ard $30-$40).
Then she started explaining the skin structure, collagen, etc, just like when you get an "interview" before you are being "talk" into signing up facial packages with those salons. She checked with us what type of make up we want to learn, and both of us in the end asked for smokey eye, emphasizing more on the usage of eye shadows..which was off the original purpose of buying the voucher for Korean Summer Makeup..= =...but still...it's like what you will find online, just that you have a hands-on session with someone telling you whether you're correct or wrong. So it's abit waste of money. I suck at using makeup brushes, but have to use it....
Love the texture of the makeup used:
- Liquid Foundation (I used their ivory -pinkish, which is suppose to brighten your skin)
- Mineral Loose Powder (not too thick, just right, with SPF)
- Eye shadow palatte (quite a huge range of colors, good texture)
- Eye primer (clever enough to show a huge difference between not using a primer and after using)
- Crayon Eye liner (rather smuggy, doesn't rub off away cleanly in the case if you draw wrongly, prefer other brands to this)
- Mascara - both primer and waterproof (combination of the 2 works well for me throughout the whole day, not too difficult to remove even though it's waterproof, i'm using Faceshop eye makeup remover)
- Face primer (have always rejected face primer and this doesn't change my mindset, got a oily feeling and feels like a thick layer of stuff over)
- blusher (love the colour!! definitely a good one with the powder rather fine and worth an investment)
- Lipstick (don't like lipsticks, but this lipstick got a great buttery smell!)
- Lip balm (love the colours too! considering buying the limited edition - pinkish)
- Lip liner (don't really need to use it, but she used it anyway, ok-ok for me)
- Lip masks (used halfway when we are completing our makeup before the lip-stuff, exfoliates the dead skin off)
- Lip balm (used after the lip mask, must use after the mask if not will be dry)
Overall recommendation:
- My skin has no negatives effects to anything at all!! Well, afterall the brand emphasize on testing the product sufficiently before releasing it. Moreover, no negative effects to the brushes as well, although the hair kept dropping, meaning Christina kept the brushes clean enough.
- Put concealer over my forehead pimples, no negative effects too!
- was recommended the mattifier - can be used over makeup in the middle of the day, slightly better at evening, not as oily when i didn't use it. may try it out
- Mask is a must-buy! Not sure whether it's Mask 1 or 2, but it's under the Mary Kay Botanical Effects Skincare series (The Link - http://www.marykay.com/skincare/BotanicalEffectsSkinCare/default.aspx)
- Class teaches regular stuff, skincare etc, for cosmetic wise only 1 type of makeup, so choose wisely and think beforehand what makeup techniques and type you want to learn in exact
- As the products are sold in MLM method, you will have to buy the products through the consultant.
If anyone has any questions can drop a comment to me! If i buy of the products, after trying, i'll write a review too! =)
