Review: TheFaceShop FACE it Radiance Concealer: Dual Veil

I'm finally back to squeeze in another review. This time - Faceshop radiance concealer: Dual Veil - which i've got it during my Korea trip in Dec 2012. Click to see more!

Well, as its name says "Dual Veil", it simply means it has 2 ways of coverage - liquid (or creamy) and stick (as in like a lipstick)

It's mentioned on the packaging that the liquid is meant more for a wider coverage - meaning if you have a wide area/patch of skin that you wish to cover, the liquid one will be more of use....

.....while the stick is recommended for small and concentrated spots that requires coverage.

The colour that i've chosen is NB17. If i didn't remember wrongly, there were 2 or 3 shades for us to choose and this was the lightest. I would recommend getting a shade lighter than your actual skin colour as concealer usually can cover up to a certain percentage but there will still be a small percentage that your blemish/spots etc will still be "sticking" out.

Texture: For the liquid version, it's more of a thick creamy texture and slightly sticky, but feels ok after drying on my skin. For the stick version, it almost feels like putting lipstick on your spots. (LOL!) Yet again, it's not sticky.

Colour: There's 3 shades and i've chose the lightest shade for me. The other 2 colours - 1 were darker (as in tan) and 1 were more orange-ie which is meant for warmer skin colours. As mentioned, always choose a shade on the lighter side, since in the first place the purpose is to balance the colour of the spot and making the spot a similar colour to your natural skin. Of course - i'm not asking you to pick a shade too light (like twice or thrice?!?). How to choose, match the colour of the concealer with your skin (of your face, not your arm etc). If the colour of your skin falls between 2 shades that's available, pick the lighter one.

Function: Definitely works as a concealer. Usually i only use the liquid version as i have a larger patch but not too obvious spots to cover. Generally, i would prefer the liquid version because:
1) it covers the spots and making it look natural after putting bb cream over it (You put concealer first if you're using liquid foundation in general terms)
2) it doesn't patch up, meaning it doesn't look patchy like the stick version as the stick version looks like stains on your face (imagine getting paint on your face when you accidentally touch your face while having colour paints)
3) even when i try to use my finger to smudge/blend the stick-version-created-patch, it either disappears (too much force) or doesn't change at all (remains as a patch).

BUT still! there's always a purpose for having making dual version into 1 product, so here's what i think about the stick version:
1) well, since the effect is so thick and paint-y, it really covers well - as in you won't be able to see the spot at all
2) it's not liquid-y, and dry, so for those that like their face to look really matte & no-shine (as in no oil-shine, moisture-shine and being powdery), stick would be good
3) Since it doesn't smudge that easily, you can be rest assured that the spot covered will be 'safe and sound' even by the end of the day (assuming that you don't have the habit of rubbing your face with your hands or tissue regularly)

Here's a picture of how the 2 version actually works as coverups:

Top row: how the products looks like: Left is the liquid version, Right is the stick version
Bottom: I've actually draw a line using a liquid eyeliner, then cover it up using the concealer: Left: is the effect of the liquid concealer while right is the stick version

Overall: It's good for people that are still exploring the world of concealers or love having the choice for their daily makeup, between liquid and stick version. I mean after all, none of our skin will be exactly the same each day. I would probably continue to get concealers with both liquid and stick version, or rather, i may continue to stick to this product as it really works and blend well with my skin! =)

Regards
J
